Commonwealth Games silver medallist Lynsey Sharp will begin her defence of the European 800m title tomorrow following a draining 13-hour journey to Zurich.

The Edinburgh athlete spent nine hours in Heathrow Airport after the GB team flight was cancelled as Britain suffered bad weather from the after-effects of Hurricane Bertha.

Sharp, who clinched silver in Glasgow despite being placed on a drip the night before her final, said: “That’s just what this year has been like for me. It’s just another obstacle.”
