EDINBURGH’S Lynsey Sharp is Scotland’s highest listed athlete in the IAAF’s end of year rankings.
The 2012 European champion is fourth in the 800 metres list following the personal best of 1:57.71 she set in Berlin in September.
But Sharp, who suffered a disappointing semi-final exit at the World Championships in Beijing, will target a higher spot on the road to the Rio Olympics next summer.
“Same as 2014,” she said via Twitter. “2016, that must change.”
Laura Muir will finish 2015 in sixth place over 1500m after moving into second place on the UK’s all-time list at the distance behind double Olympic gold medallist Kelly Holmes, with Eilidh Child seventh in the 400m hurdles.
Hammer thrower Mark Dry is the highest-ranked Scotsman at 24th with Chris O’Hare in 28th place over 1500m.
