EDINBURGH’S European 800m champion Lynsey Sharp is one of 65 Scottish athletes who have been awarded grants from sportscotland.

This is the second round of the individual sportscotland Athlete Personal Awards (SAPAs), with £396,917 allocated to Scottish athletes covering
15 sports.

When the third and final round of SAPAs is announced at a later date, sportscotland will have invested more than £1 million and supported well over 100 high-performance
athletes with this initiative.

Sharp, who this week was upgraded to European
champion after initial winner – Russia’s Yelena Arzhakova – was banned for two years for a doping offence, has been handed £5000 to help her prepare for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
