Scotland’s senior men’s basketball team played three challenge games against Luxembourg in Luxembourg over the weekend and emerged with one win, a narrow defeat and a lot of credit as they start to prepare for next year’s Euro C Championships against a team who will contest Euro B.
After losing the first game 71-65 shortly after arriving, Scotland beat their hosts 79-71 in the next, dominating the first three quarters of the game.
Ahead 47-28 at half-time, the Scots were led by Scottish Rocks forward Gareth Murray, GB cap and Spanish ACB League centre Kieron Achara, and Maine University centre Ali Fraser, who all scored 15 points, while Nick Collins and Jonny Bunyan added 12 each.
Luxembourg took the final game 92-64 yesterday, but Scotland coach Iain Maclean was not too disappointed.
“We ran all the squad and we played tired, but I certainly learned a lot from the group.”
