Edinburgh University physical education student Hannah Peacock is poised to become the second Edinburgh Kool Kat to earn full Great Britain international honours in Spain tonight.

The GB team are in Logrono taking part in a four-team tournament ahead of next month’s Eurobasket in Hungary and former James Young High pupil Peacock, 20, is likely to take part in the match against the hosts. The British team are also due to face Canada and Poland as they prepare for the Euros.

A strong performance in Hungary would qualify the Brits for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro next year. Rose Anderson, who is now based in the United States and is no longer playing, became the first Kool Kat to earn full GB
honours when she took part in the London 2012 Games.

Meanwhile. Scotland’s senior women failed to post a victory in a four-match international series against Luxembourg, the host nation, and Ireland. Two US-based players Claire Paxton (Polonia Phoenix) and Becca Allison (Kool Kats) turned out for the Scots. The men fared better, winning 50-41 against a Dutch National Select after a one-point loss in their first game.
