Becca Allison (Edinburgh Kool Kats) gave an outstanding display in scoring 26 points for Scotland’s senior women in Luxembourg.
Allison was unlucky to be cut from the final Great Britain women’s basketball training squad after attending her graduation from Old Dominion University, Virginia, but she made up for that impressively.
She was well supported yesterday by Colorado-based Claire Paxton (Polonia Phoenix) with 17 points as the Scots showed much improvement in the third and final game of their series against Luxembourg before going down 78-71.
Beaten 64-54 in their first game and 73-48 on Saturday, the Scots, with Emma Findlay and Hannah Peacock (both Kool Kats) and Natalie Chaloner (St Mirren) also in the starting five, led an amazing 35-22 after the first quarter.
Despite a strong response from their hosts, they were still 43-40 up at half-time and 58-56 after three quarters before Luxembourg edged in front.
The Scots are preparing for the European Small Nations Championship in Austria next month.
