Capital players and Edinburgh University coach Bart Sengers played a major part in an outstanding “double double” triumph for Scottish Student Sport’s basketball teams over the visiting Irish Colleges at Heriot-Watt University over the weekend.

Capital players and Edinburgh University coach Bart Sengers played a major part in an outstanding “double double” triumph for Scottish Student Sport’s basketball teams over the visiting Irish Colleges at Heriot-Watt University over the weekend.

The Scottish men, coached by Josh Tackie (Glasgow University), won 85-74 yesterday and the women, coached by Sengers, 78-53 to add to their 82-73 and 101-47 respective wins on Saturday.

EU national league centre Jac St John scored 21 points, took 12 rebounds and gave nine assists in Saturday’s win, backed up by EU teammate Ron Adrian who scored 14.

Yhana Van Wees (Abertay) scored 20 points, took 12 rebounds and had three steals and a block for the Scottish women on Saturday, for whom Erin McDonnell (Edinburgh) also had a “double double” with 18 points and 11 rebounds.

Dori Lansbach (EU) added 16 points and nine rebounds, Beth Mackie (EU) 13 points and Sarah Halejian (EU) 12 points and eight assists.
