The ladies of London Road Foundry signed off their season with a commanding victory over Parkside in the final of The Edinburgh Cup.
LRF came into the final having already been crowned champions of the Edinburgh Bowling League, so were spurred on by a strong desire to emulate the inaugural league-and-cup double achieved by Hillside last season.
“Winning the league title a few weeks ago was a dream occasion for the club and now it is great that our team of eight have added the cup to win both major honours of the EBL,” said spokeswoman Nicola Barclay.
Parkside came into the final with the advantage of playing on their own green, but LRF held the upper-hand on both rinks.
The one skipped by Gillian Mackintosh and comprising of Diane Crolla, Alvis Dickson, and Diane Bell produced an fine performance that set the LRF support alight with an 18-4 win over Mary Salvona.
Barclay found life much different in a real humdinger of a game that saw her skip Sheila McIntosh, Eileen Mitchell, and Rosemary Mackintosh to a 14-13 win over Mai Smith, Ros Tait, Jackie Young, and Janice Clayton.
