TOMORROW’s finals night at Midlothian IBC pits David Peacock against Colin Walker in the Gents Singles at the Dalkeith Stadium.
Peacock is bidding for back-to-back titles after beating Walker in last year’s final. Success for Peacock – a gold-medal winner in the Commonwealth Games – would secure a ninth title.
Walker, a six-times champion at Midlothian, reached this year’s final by defeating Ian Forbes 19-10. Peacock was under pressure at 15-14 down in his semi-final but produced a grandstand run of 1, 3, 1, to clinch a 19-16 win over two-times winner Ronnie Duncan.
Scotland caps Sandra McLeish and Stacey Laidlaw go head-to-head in the Ladies Singles. McLeish, champion on six occasions, received a walkover in the semi-finals due to the ill-health of ten-times champion Jeanette Conlan.
McDougall, the Scottish Junior Singles Champion of 2015, edged a 21-19 thriller over defending champion Gaynor Duncan in the last four and is now bidding for a second title triumph at Dalkeith. McLeish and McDougall lined up as partners in this week’s final of the 2-Bowl Pairs and captured the title with a 2-0 sets win over Carol Muirhead and Val Gray.
McLeish has also reached the final of the Fours, the 4-Bowl Pairs and the Triples.
Conlan is fit for tomorrow night’s final of the Seniors Singles where she faces Shona Johnstone.
Meanwhile, Jamie Macnab beat Paul Innes 21-6 in the final of the Gents Under-25 Singles.
