Uphall station duo Sandra Steven and Kirsteen McLelland are celebrating once again after landing the Bowls Scotland Ladies Super Series Pairs Title, a fortnight on from landing the Scottish Pairs Title in Ayr.

Steven and McLelland ousted Natalie Docherty and Lorna Cameron 27-9 in the final to land the £1000 prize.

“We still can’t believe that we have done it,” said Steven. “Winning the Scottish Title then just two weeks later adding the Super Series Title is to us an absolutely amazing double.”

The final stages of the Men’s equivalent saw the Kirkliston partnership of Calum and Grant Logan make a last-16 exit to eventual champions Colin and Jason Banks, while Scott Mushet and Ewan Shearer of Linlthgow also departed early on.

Meanwhile, this weekend’s climax to the Super Series Singles includes challenges from John McDermott (Edinburgh), Derek Oliver (East Lothian), Gillian Mackintosh (Edinburgh) and West Lothian’s Ewan Shearer and Andi Gray.

• NEIGHBOUR clubs Kirkliston and Newbridge clash in the final of the WLBA Top Five Singles at Middleton Hall tomorrow at 2pm.

The five head-to-head battles feature Steven Forrest v Greg Baldry; Mark Allison v James Speirs; Neil Speirs v Thomas Mann; Grant Logan v Blair Mackie; Calum Logan v Paul Sweeney.

In Thursday night’s semi-finals, Kirkliston beat Whitburn 3-2 at Broxburn and Newbridge beat Linlithgow 3-2 at Armadale.

• PARKSIDE play host to the semi-finals and final of the Jimmy Gaylor Edinburgh & Leith Champion of Champions for The Tait Trophy tomorrow with play scheduled at 11am and 2pm.

The line-up going into today’s quarter-finals, also at Parkside, reads Sean Clunder (Juniper Green) v Malcolm Weir (Whitehouse & Grange; Greg Walker (Wardie) v Darren Hush (Carrick Knowe); Darren McKenny (Pilrig) v Paul Veitch (Parkside); Stevie Wilson (Balerno) v Liam McKay (Tanfield).

• THE final of the Gifted of Stockbridge EBL Ladies Cup is a highlight event at Queensberry today (2pm) with the battle for supremacy between Goldenacre and Carrick Knowe.

Also on the bill at Queensberry is the climax to the Penplaid Ltd EBL Edinburgh Plate, where Currie take on West End.
