Josh Taylor has set his sights on seeking revenge as he makes his second appearance in this year’s World Series Boxing event as the British Lionhearts face Italia Thunder tonight in Caserta, north of Naples.
Lochend’s Taylor will be reunited in the ring with Domenico Valentino, the opponent who ended his Olympic medal hopes in London last summer in the second round of the lightweight category.
The 22-year-old narrowly lost his debut bout for the Lionhearts in Kazakhstan at the beginning of December but is confident he will have the better of Valentino this time around.
Taylor said: “Valentino is an experienced and awkward opponent, but my training has gone very well and I am looking forward to the contest.
“I enjoy the different demands of World Series and think it suits my style. It’s less frantic than the Olympic format and the extra rounds means you have more time to settle into the bout.”
