EDINBURGH super-middleweight title contender Kenny Anderson today confirmed he will face Wayne Reed on Alex Arthur’s Triple AAA boxing promotion in Edinburgh next month.

Anderson, who saw his British title challenge to George Groves called off earlier this month, will box Sheffield southpaw Reed, 24, over six rounds at Meadowbank on Saturday, April 14.

Anderson said: “I’m delighted to return to my home town to fight and hope to give the Capital fans more thrills after stopping my last opponent, Lee Duncan, on Alex’s show in August last year.

“I need to keep sharp for my British title fight with George Groves when it finally arrives.”

Edinburgh middleweight Craig McEwan will make his Capital professional debut with an eight-rounder against a selected opponent on the same bill. McEwan, who only lost two of 20 pro bouts while based in the United States, will be staging two public sparring sessions with Gary Young this Saturday in Wester Hailes Shopping centre (10.30am and 2pm.).

The boxer said: “I hope many youngsters and their families from Wester Hailes will come and watch me prepare for my fight.’’

Edinburgh welterweight Gary McMillan and middleweight John McCallum wiill also box on April 14 while Alex Arthur will top the bill in a ten-rounder against a top international professional.
