Edinburgh pair Josh Taylor and Lewis Benson were victorious in their respective bouts Down Under as Scotland beat hosts Austrailia to win the Sting Cup.

The Lochend duo, who are in Canberra for a three-week training camp in preparation for this summer’s Commonwealth Games, contributed to Scotland’s 7-3 triumph at the Australian Institute of Sport’s Combat Centre.

Taylor, 23, came through unscathed against Yousef Dib from New South Wales with Benson too strong for Joe Taylor, also from New South Wales.

Benson, took to Twitter to announce his latest victory, his seventh since switching from 64kg to 69kg in October last year.

The 22-year-old tweeted: “Another win makes me 7 fights unbeaten at my new weight it wasn’t my best performance but I won every round! #TheRoadToGlasgow2014.”

2012 Olympian Taylor also tweeted, saying: “Won my fight tonight here in Australia. It was a tired and laboured performance due 2 jet lag& lack of sleep. But felt good enough #winning.

The team still have 14 days before they make the long journey home.
