Josh Taylor will make the first defence of his Commonwealth super lightweight title against South African Warren Joubert at Meadowbank on Friday, March 24.

The Prestonpans fighter, 26, will return to the venue where he won his first professional belt in October with a fifth-round stoppage of former champion Dave Ryan – a fight that was broadcast live on Channel 5.

Undefeated Taylor is seeking his ninth consecutive win having defeated Mexican Alfonso Olvera on points at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas last month but faces a formidable task against the current South African champion (26-4-5).

The fight will again be shown live by Channel 5.

Meanwhile, Edinburgh’s Celtic super lightweight champion Jason Easton will defend his title against Hungarian Zoltan Szabo (14-4) while Haddington prospect Ian Trotter will make his debut at middleweight.
