Meadowbank Boxing Club’s Lee McGregor leads the charge this weekend at the semi-finals of the Scottish Championships at Ravenscraig Sports Complex.
The Great Britain fighter, 19, will hope to move a step closer to his first senior title tomorrow when he goes head to head with Forgewood’s Mathew Middleton in their 56kg contest. McGregor missed last year’s championships due to a shoulder injury.
Meanwhile, Lochend’s Ryan McCutcheon boxes the Barn’s Darren Shannon in the second 56kg clash. Elsewhere, Ali Mahmood 60kg, also of Lochend, is up against Doon Valley’s Calvin McCord.
Brothers Sean (64kg) and Owen (75kg) Spence will look to join Meadowbank club-mate McGregor in progressing to next month’s finals when they face Jack Crawford and Danny Burke respectively.
At 81kg, Lochend’s James Nelson is up against Aberdeenshire-based Byron’s Boris Crighton and, in the women’s 64kg, Livingston’s Elaine Greenan faces the Barn’s Gemma Rose McIntosh.
