Carlton pair Preston Mommsen and Ally Evans were today included in the Scotland cricket squad for one day internationals against Holland at Titwood, Glasgow, on July 1, 2 and 4.
The fixtures mark the start of new coach Grant Bradburn’s tenure and provide opportunities to stake early claims to a place in the Scotland team for next year’s World Cup.
Top Eastern Premiership wicket-taker Sayaan Sharif (Falkland) will also play and selectors have been able to name English county players including Kyle Coetzer (Northants), Ruaidri Smith (Glamorgan), Calum Macleod (Durham), Iain Wardlaw (Yorkshire) and Matt Machin (Sussex).
Bradburn said: “The recently-completed North Sea Pro series has provided valuable international exposure to a large group of aspiring Scottish-based players.
“Locally-based players throughout this series have been closely followed and we have rewarded strong performances with selection against Netherlands, joining the majority of our English County-based players, who are available for this series.”
Scotland squad: Kyle Coetzer, Preston Mommsen, Richie Berrington, Freddie Coleman, Matthew Cross, Josh Davey, Alasdair Evans, Majid Haq, Michael Leask, Matt Machan, Calum MacLeod, Safyaan Sharif, Ruaidhri Smith, Iain Wardlaw.
