Hamish Gardiner, the top runs scorer in the CSL Eastern Premiership last summer, has left Carlton and signed for Plymouth in the Devon Premier League.

Gardiner is the second big-hitter to leave Grange Loan after Scotland captain Preston Mommsen moved to Mazars Grange.

Gardiner, 25, was born in Australia, but spent a number of years growing up in Edinburgh and playing in the Carlton youth section.

He then rejoined Carlton a few years ago and his runs scoring exploits with the first XI saw him earn Scotland caps.

Last summer he helped Carlton finish third in the top flight with 652 runs, but his girlfriend Jen works in the south of England and he is now based there permanently.
