Mo AHMED took four wickets as Carlton II secured their second win of the East One season at Largo on Saturday.

The Grange Loan side defeated Musselburgh in the first round of fixtures, but since then have suffered a loss to Glenrothes and seen two matches called off.

They got back to winning ways in Fife with a disciplined bowling display.

The experienced Ahmed led the way with 4-24 while Rob Thornton and Jamie Lenney both took two wickets as the hosts were all out for 138.

In reply the visitors then reached their victory target for the loss of seven wickets. As well as the win another boost for Carlton II – and probably the first team later in the summer – was the return to action after long-term injury of Charles Legget.

Elsewhere in the top flight at the weekend, there were wins for Musselburgh, Watsonians II, Dunfermline and Glenrothes.

Ashi Tufail scored 49 as Musselburgh’s total of 193-9 was 82-runs too many for Murrayfield DAFS to chase in the sunshine.

In Stockbridge, some typically hard-hitting shots from Stuart Davidson gave him a half century and helped Grange II post 146 against Watsonians II.

The visitors, led by 49 from Ben Fox and 40 from Mark Yellowlees, surpassed that total though and won the match by seven wickets.

Dunfermline defeated Holy Cross thanks to some good batting by their young players. Simon McOscar scored a century in defeat.

Glenrothes got the better of Marchmont at Cavalry Park.
