Just a day after the Netherlands defeated England in the Twenty20 World Cup, Cricket Scotland have signed up for an inter-district series with the Dutch (Royal Netherlands Cricket Board).
The North Sea Pro series will feature two teams each from both countries playing each other either in 50 or 20-overs matches predominantly on Sundays and Mondays through May and early June - the two competitions called the North Sea 50 and North Sea 20 Series.
The competition will provide each team with six matches in 50 overs and T20 format and is intended as a step towards a domestic professional cricket league in Europe.
Fixtures and venues for both competitions will be announced in due course.
The Netherlands beat England yesterday in Bangladesh by a massive 45 runs in one of the biggest shocks ever in world cricket. However, it was not the first time the Dutch have beaten England – they did it at Lord’s in the same competition back in 2009.
