Sean Weeraratna took three wickets and Hayes van der Berg scored 71 as Heriot’s progressed to the Citylets Scottish Cup semi-finals yesterday.
At Goldenacre the Capital side defeated Tayside Group Forfarshire in their last-eight tie. And they will meet Watsonians in the last four next month after the Myreside men won their quarter-final at Ayr.
Bowling first Weeraratna got Heriot’s off to a good start taking three of Forfarshire’s top order wickets.
That included Scotland cap Craig Wallace for 16 as seamer Weeraratna ended up with figures of 3-26.
Spin duo Matt Watt and Ryan Brown ended up with two wickets apiece while Adrian Neill and Michael Shean also weighed in with one scalp each as the visitors were 165 all out.
The half century from Van der Berg led the Heriot’s response while James Hearn hit a vital 39 runs as they claimed victory by four wickets.
Watsonians bowled first at Ayr and restricted the hosts to 208-6.
In reply Mike Carson continued his great recent form with 96 not out and he was well supported by Aman Bailwal (35 not out) and Andrew Chalmers (24) as they went on to win by six wickets. Carson’s knock made it a combined total of 263 runs for him this weekend.
Mazars Grange and Carlton will play their respective quarter-finals away to Drumpellier and Poloc this coming Sunday.
