SMRH now have seven league wins for the season and sit second in the Baillie Gifford ESCA Championship after they beat Murrayfield DAFS – and the weather – on Saturday.
All other matches in the CSL Eastern Premiership and the Championship fell foul of the early morning rain, but Inverleith was playable by mid-afternoon and the teams contested a 35-overs-a-side match.
SMRH batted first and made their way to 179-6, Liam Barrett top scoring with 48. Elliot Ruthven also made a very handy 33 not out while for DAFS, who had beaten Marchmont seven days previously, Jean-Pierre Cruz-Rocha took four wickets to keep up his good form.
In reply DAFS skipper Mangesh Akerkar did his best to lead his side to an away win, but his 76 was in vain as four wickets from man of the match Ruthven saw SMRH home by 21 runs in the end.
Meanwhile, in East One, Neil Yelland took five wickets and Alice Baldwin took three as Watsonians II thumped Edinburgh South.
At Inch Park, Yelland and Baldwin bowled superbly as the hosts were all out for just 56. Yelland finished with 5-24 while Baldwin took 3-24 and there was also two run outs.
Watsonians were never really in any bother in the run chase, Ben Fox and teenager Callum Martin both scoring 15, the former not out, as the visitors won by seven wickets.
