CHRIS WILLSDON and Fraser Cousin starred as Watsonians II edged out Musselburgh in a cracking contest at Craiglockhart on Saturday in Baillie Gifford East One.
Batting first, the visitors from East Lothian were led by 45 from Rizwan Ullah as they made 185 all out.
For Watsonians, Willsdon took 3-41 and Euan Robertson took 2-17. Neil Yelland and young Cousin also took two wickets apiece.
In Watsonians’ reply, Hemant Verma caused problems and Ullah took four wickets to keep Musselburgh in with a chance of winning.
However, 49 from skipper James Easton and 35 not out from Cousin kept the Capital men on track and there was late drama when, with one wicket left, Willsdon hit a four to see the hosts home.
The win was just Watsonians’ fourth of the league campaign while West Lothian defeated Gala in a low scoring affair.
Gala made 122 all out while West Lothian made it home with two wickets to spare.
St Boswells conceded their match to give Edinburgh South a win.
Arthish Sekar was on top form, hitting 107, as Morton thumped West Lothian II by 193 runs in East Two. The result leaves them top of the division.
