Former City of Edinburgh colleagues Eileen Roe and Charline Joiner will face each other when the British Circuit Race Championships take place in Barnsley tonight.

Roe, of the Wiggle Honda team, is defending the title she won last season, while Joiner represents Team WNT. However, Roe’s campaign has been punctuated by injury and, at the same time, Joiner has posted impressive results and arrives in Yorkshire full of confidence.

Scottish champion Evan Oliphant has also rediscovered his best form in recent weeks and should be a contender in the men’s race if he is given the support of his Team Raleigh-GAC colleagues. The Lothians rider has spent recent weeks helping his squad establish itself as the dominant force in the British circuit race series and has contributed to podium finishes for team-mates. If that effort is reciprocated tonight, he could become the first Scot to lift the title since James McCallum in 2007.

Both races are over 50 minutes plus five additional laps of the 1.1 kilometre circuit.
