Capital cyclist James McCallum will be looking to chalk up his first success of 2013 when he heads the home challenge in tonight’s opening round of the Pearl Izumi Tour Series in Kirkcaldy, writes COLIN RENTON.
The Rapha Condor-JLT rider has performed solidly in recent weeks but has not yet posted a win. He will be out to put that right this evening in the 75-minute circuit race that is the first of 11 rounds to be contested before the series concludes in Ipswich on June 14.
The Scottish champion will be joined in the field drawn from Britain’s ten leading teams by several others looking to record a home victory.
Among the other Scots in the line up are Davie Lines, now riding for MG-Maxifuel, and Ross Edgar, the Olympic Keirin silver medallist in Beijing, who has switched from track racing to join IG Sigma Sport.
