Capital cyclist Evan Oliphant will continue to race for Team Raleigh next season after signing a contract extension with the Nottingham-based outfit.
The 31-year-old enjoyed a fruitful season, including a sixth Scottish Road Race title and competing in a third Commonwealth Games. He also posted a stage win at the Tour of the Reservoir as Raleigh took the overall team title. He is one of only four riders in the 12-man squad who will be back in harness next season.
Team manager Cherie Pridham said: “The core of last year’s successes, Evan Oliphant, Morgan Kneisky and our team captain Ian Wilkinson, have all been retained.”
Oliphant’s career objectives include winning a medal in the British Road Race Championship, but he admits that achieving his goal has become tougher over recent seasons since major squads such as Team Sky have targeted the race.
