Manchester’s Rebecca Baraona held off world downhill champion Rachel Atherton to win yesterday’s Red Bull Foxhunt in Edinburgh.

Baraona completed the 2.75km course in the Pentland Hills before she was caught by Atherton who had started from the back of the field. Cheri Mills and Fiona Beattie were second and third.

“I didn’t ever think I’d beat the world champion!” said Baraona. “I kept looking behind me to see if she was there. It feels awesome!”

Atherton added: “That was so much fun. Absolutely epic.”
