A LATE Conner Duthie strike ensured Hibernian’s Development Squad drew 2-2 against Falkirk’s Development Squad on Tuesday night.

Taylor Morgan netted a brace either side of half-time to give the visitors the lead before Kevin Waugh reduced the arrears.

With eight minutes remaining, Duthie rescued a point for Joe McBride’s side for the second week running.

The first half was largely uneventful, but did cast former Hibernian defender Alan Maybury, now Falkirk Under-20s player-coach, as pantomime villain to add a degree of spice to affairs.

The first effort on target came from Lewis Allan on 27 minutes, but his tame effort was held by Graham Bowman.

Falkirk took the lead four minutes later, Thomas Grant’s cross into the box headed into the bottom corner by Morgan.

Maybury then appeared to elbow Duthie as the pair challenged for a high ball and received criticism from the stands.Duthie hit the side-netting before Maybury’s complaints to match official Steven Reid and Sam Stanton provoked the crowd further.

Hibs began the second half on top, but Falkirk extended their lead on the hour. Cerny made a good stop from Botti Biabi, but the forward was able to set up Morgan whose his first effort was blocked on the line by Jordan McGregor, but he prodded in with the net unguarded at the second attempt.

The hosts hit back six minutes later as a Duthie free kick was headed in by Waugh, who then headed onto the roof of the net and Ryan Blair hit the post for the visitors with a free kick.

In the 82nd minute, Duthie came up trumps. He brushed Maybury aside, much to the crowd’s delight, before rounding Bowman to tap home.
