Czech REPUBLIC secured second place in Group I and a Euro 2012 play-off berth with a convincing 4-1 win in Lithuania.

The Czechs headed into their final qualifier knowing they had to achieve a better result than the Scots managed against Group I winners Spain.

Michal Kadlec put the visitors ahead from the penalty spot within two minutes after Milan Baros was fouled in the area.

Jan Rezek, the player accused of diving to earn the Czechs a crucial late penalty in their 2-2 draw in Scotland last month, then scored twice to put the Czechs three goals up at the break. The Czechs were reduced to ten men midway through the second half when Roman Hubnik saw red for a professional foul, Darvydas Sernas converting the resulting penalty, but another Kadlec spot-kick five minutes from time sealed a convincing away win.
