Manchester United midfielder and former Scotland captain Darren Fletcher is set to return to the international set-up when Gordon Strachan’s men face Poland in Warsaw in March.

Fletcher, who skippered the Red Devils in last night’s Capital One Cup semi-final exit at the hands of Sunderland, has not pulled on the blue of Scotland since November 2012 in a match against Luxembourg after the serious bowl condition ulcerative colitis threatened to end his career.

However, Fletcher has been a regular in the Man Utd set-up since his return to full fitness and it is understood that Scotland boss Strachan will name him in the squad for the trip to Poland on March 5.

The 29-year-old, who was born in Dalkeith, has played 61 times for his country to date.
