Hearts academy kids became the first Scottish team to take part in the Christmas Truce International Tournament, where they faced clubs including Chelsea, Anderlecht, Schalke and Borussia Monchengladbach.

The Riccarton youngsters – a mix of under-12 and under-13 players – were invited to the festival in Ypres, Belgium by the English Premier League. They enjoyed a mix of games and culture 100 years after World War I - in which seven Hearts players lost their lives. The players visited the site of one of the Christmas Truce football matches and attended war graves and memorials. They were also present at the Menin Gate Last Post ceremony and laid wreaths on behalf of the club.
