Gary Locke has been named SPFL Premiership Manager of the Month for April despite being ousted by Hearts this week.
The 38-year-old was told by new owner Ann Budge on Monday that he was surplus to requirements as the club intended to go down a new route under new director of football Craig Levein.
However, this week’s events didn’t stop Locke earning recognition for a stirring finish to the season in which his side took 17 points from a possible 24.
Hearts went through April unbeaten, taking ten points from a possible 12 in matches against Aberdeen, Partick Thistle, Ross County and Hibs.
Speaking as he received the award, Locke said: “This is a great way to finish and I’m really honoured to get the award. It’s great to get manager of the month and, hopefully, other people will sit up and take notice that I did a decent job.”
