Ian Murray has urged Hearts supporters to remain supportive of Ann Budge despite the controversial decision not to retain Gary Locke as manager.
The Foundation of Hearts chairman acknowledged that the new owner’s first day in charge has not been met with unanimous approval, with many riled by the manner in which Locke and senior players were cast aside yesterday.
Murray, however, is adamant that Budge’s overall vision for the club should be embraced. He said: “Everyone is uncomfortable about the decision not to renew Gary’s contract. He did an exceptional job and also portrayed the club so well in such difficult circumstances.
“However, we need to trust in Ann to place the club on a stable financial footing. She has promised honesty and transparency and to work in the best interests of building for the future of the club.
“The previous regime ran this club on a day-to-day basis with no strategy and a knee-jerk reaction to hiring and firing. I fully support Ann because we need to find stability.”
