The annual Rivals4Charity match between Hearts and Hibs fans teams takes place at Easter Road this Sunday.
Hearts will be looking to retain their trophy at the home of their rivals following last year’s 8-1 success at Tynecastle, although Hibs have won the trophy five times compared to Hearts three since the opening game in 2006 when over £8000 was raised for The Sick Kids Hospital.
All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Big Hearts Community Trust and The Hibernian Community Foundation, with both teams expected to raise £3000 each on the day with an attendance of around 500 anticipated. The event is being sponsored by Telecommunications Service Provider Commsworld.
“This is a great opportunity for fans of both sides to pit their wits against their rivals,” said match organiser Scott Moncrieff. “There is a real competitive edge to the game as players from both sides undergo a series of trials which last four months.
“Over the years, we have raised some fantastic sums for local charities and the money raised from this year’s event will help both clubs with all the work they do in the local community.”
Hibs will have a father-son partnership in the home dugout with Kenny and David Solway managing the home team, while Hearts will be managed by David Aitchison, with Ryan Brooks as his assistant.
Sunday’s match kicks off at 11.00am with admission to the Main Stand at Easter Road £5 for adults and £3 for concessions.
