Hearts’ Robbie Neilson was today named SPFL Championship Manager of the Month for October – his second such award inside three months.
The club won three and drew one of their four matches last month and remain unbeaten at the top of the league.
Neilson now has another award to add to his manager of the month gong for August. “It’s a pat on the back for myself, the coaching staff and the club,” he said. “At the end of the day, it doesn’t mean anything long-term. You want to be manager of the month for the next month coming because that means your team has done well. The previous month is done and dusted.”
Hibs head coach Alan Stubbs was September’s manager of the month, meaning the award has stayed in Edinburgh since the season started. “It’s good for both teams,” continued Neilson. “There is a lot of progress at both clubs and they’re heading in the right direction. Hibs have picked up some good results and that’s testament to Alan and the staff. They did well against us in the derby.”
