Gary Locke today urged Hearts fans to roar their team to a crucial victory over St Mirren on Saturday.
Jambos boss Locke admits the club’s supporters have already given the players everything this season and he’s hoping they turn out in their numbers once again this weekend to give his side the backing that could be vital in overcoming the Buddies.
With Hearts currently sitting on minus seven points following their 15-point deduction for entering administration, Saturday’s clash has been labelled a relegation crunch in some quarters.
While Locke is keen to play down the significance of the match as Hearts bid to cut the nine-point advantage Saints hold over his team, he does acknowledge the importance of the Hearts supporters turning up the volume – and the pressure – on their opponents.
Locke said: “They have done their side proud over the last few months, not only by digging into their pockets to keep the club going, but also by turning out in their numbers week after week to show their support in the stands.
“They have been brilliant. The most important thing now is that they stick by the team right through the season. It would be great to see as many of them as possible turning up at Tynecastle on Saturday to back the team.
“We can’t ask for any more from them, They have given us their money, they have given us their support. they have given us everything, really.
“Their backing has really made a difference to the club and the team and we can’t thank them enough.”
