HEARTS Under-20 coach Jack Ross has taken time away from the club to mull over his future.

His long-term position is expected to become clearer next week, although it remains to be seen whether he returns to Riccarton.

Ross has been absent from training at the club’s request this week and did not attend Monday’s Under-20 fixture against Dundee United. The Evening News has learned that there has been no fall-out with anyone at Hearts but Ross’ future remains uncertain.

The 39-year-old is both player development manager and under-20 coach and is an integral part of the management structure. He arrived last July as the third member of the coaching team under head coach Robbie Neilson and assistant Stevie Crawford.

Ross has been given time off to consider his position during the international break, with Liam Fox placed in temporary charge of the under-20 squad.
