English winger Jerome Thomas has left Hearts after failing to agree terms with the Edinburgh club.

The 32-year-old spent time on trial at Riccarton last week and head coach Robbie Neilson was hopeful he would sign a contract. However, both parties could not reach an agreement.

Thomas, formerly of Crystal Palace, West Bromwich Albion, Charlton and Portsmouth, has been without a club since leaving Palace in May. He held talks over a playing deal with Hearts which included the promise of future opportunities in coaching.

Thomas mulled the situation over but has decided to return to England and look to continue his career there.
