HEARTS supporters are rapidly buying up seats as Premiership football returns to Tynecastle this August.
Season-ticket sales are approaching the 6000-mark after just two weeks of sales, the Evening News can reveal.
Fans queued outside the stadium’s ticket centre yesterday on the first morning for new purchases. Season tickets for the 2015/16 campaign went on sale on April 29, with the first two weeks exclusively for existing members to renew their seats.
The total number of season tickets sold now is nearing 6000 and Hearts are hopeful that most of the 14,500 seats available will sell out before the new league campaign begins. The Edinburgh club had 12,500 season ticket holders last season in the Championship and have made an extra 2000 seats available in the Roseburn Stand this year for the first time.
Away support will be limited to around 1400 next season as Hearts attempt to accommodate more of their own fans now they are back in the top flight.
A spokesperson at Tynecastle explained yesterday’s rush for tickets: “Such was the demand to make sure they got a season ticket that supporters were queuing outside the ticket centre from first thing in the morning.
“Business was brisk throughout the day and we expect things to remain busy for the rest of this week.
“We know what a special atmosphere can be created inside Tynecastle and all the indications are that we will once again have phenomenal support for our return to the Premiership. Current season ticket holders are reminded they have until June 10 to renew their seats for the new campaign.”
Supporters keen to buy a season ticket can do so via the Hearts website, www.heartsfc.co.uk, by calling 0871 663 1874 or by visiting the Tynecastle ticket centre.
Meanwhile, Hearts have announced a pre-season friendly away at Dumbarton on Thursday, July 9. The match will kick off at 7.45pm.
