HEARTS manager Gary Locke was due to take a decision today on the fitness of Jamie Hamill, who is doubtful for tomorrow’s trip to Ross County with a hamstring problem.
The versatile defender trained yesterday for the first time this week and was due to be assessed this afternoon before the team’s departure for Dingwall.
Locke is already without Jason Holt and Jamie Walker through injury and has Ryan Stevenson serving the first of a two-match ban tomorrow. Losing Hamill would be another major blow to Hearts’ preparations, but the manager is hoping the 27-year-old can prove his fitness in time.
“We have a slight doubt over Jamie due to a hamstring. He didn’t train during the first part of the week and was struggling a wee bit,” Locke told the Evening News. “He trained yesterday so we’ll see how he is when we test him. We definitely need everybody fit. Our injury list is still pretty long, but we’ve got to go up to Ross County, be positive and try to get three points on the board.”
Walker has undergone surgery on a broken metatarsal, the same injury from which Holt is still recovering.
Meanwhile, Adam King’s move to Swansea City could be finalised over the weekend after negotiations moved to an advanced stage. Hearts accepted an offer of £200,000 for the 18-year-old two weeks ago with personal terms the only thing left to be agreed.
