Hearts legend John Robertson has returned to Inverness to become their manager for a second time.

Robertson, 52, was in charge of the Highland club between 2002 and 2004, winning promotion to the top flight before moving to Hearts to become manager.

With Caley back in the Championship after relegation last season, the club has turned to the Jambos’ record goalscorer to guide them back up, handing him a two-year deal.

Robertson had been working at Hearts in an ambassadorial role and the Tynecastle outfit gave him their blessing yesterday to move north.

The former Scotland international has been out of football management for five years, with his last role coming at East Fife between 2010 and 2012. He has also managed Ross County, Livingston and Derry City.
