Hearts or Hibs could face Lowland League club and city neighbours Spartans when the draw for the first round of the Petrofac Training Cup is made tomorrow at 2pm.
The competition, formerly known as the Ramsdens Cup, is boosted by the presence of three Edinburgh clubs for the first time in its history and there is decent chance that two could be paired up when the ceremony takes place at Easter Road.
The draw for the first round is regionalised and unseeded, meaning that Hearts, Hibs and Spartans are in the southern section. The other teams they could be drawn with are Airdrie, Albion Rovers, Annan Athletic, Ayr United, Berwick Rangers, Clyde, Dumbarton, Livingston, Morton, Queen of the South, Queen’s Park, Rangers and Stranraer.
Raith Rovers won the competition last year by defeating Rangers 1-0 at Easter Road in the final
