HEARTS have recruited former Dundee chief executive Scot Gardiner to a management role at Tynecastle.

He will work closely with the new board and will assume some of the duties of outgoing managing director David Southern, who joins Dundee United at the end of the month.

Gardiner has previous experience working at Rangers and Tottenham Hotspur. Hearts owner Ann Budge is delighted to have him on board.

“Scot will take over some of the duties of David Southern, who leaves Hearts at the end of the month to take up his new position of General Manager at Dundee United,” she told the club website.

“Scot will work very closely with myself and other members of the board in helping to address the challenges that face us in rebuilding the business. I am sure supporters will all join me in welcoming Scot to the club as we embark on our exciting new season.”
