Tottenham HOTSPUR youngster and Scotland youth internationalist Callum Tapping has joined Hearts on a two-year contract for a nominal fee.

Tapping, who turned 18 earlier this summer, is expected to join Darren Murray’s under-19 squad, with the youth coach enthusiastic about the youngster.

“Callum is a central midfielder with good ability,” said Murray. “He can see a pass, gets forward and can score goals. He’s diligent, conscientious as well and someone we think can develop for the future with us.”

London-born Tapping moved to Scotland at the age of five and attended Larbert High School near Falkirk. He joined Tottenham’s academy two years ago having received his formative football education at Celtic and Hamilton Accies, going on to play eight games for Spurs’ under-18 team and being rewarded with a professional contract last year. In 2010/11, he featured 27 times in the FA Academy Premier League and earned international recognition at under-19 level.

Meanwhile, 20-year-old Hearts defender Dylan McGowan has joined Australian top-flight club Gold Coast United on loan. McGowan returns to his homeland after ending last season on loan with East Fife.
