HEARTS are waiting on answers from two players who held signing talks with head coach Robbie Neilson in Spain last week.
Neilson took time out from a family holiday to meet summer transfer targets and is hopeful two of them will agree to move to Scotland. He returned from Spain at the weekend but is keeping the names of the players in question close to his chest. He spoke with a striker and one other player and is now waiting to learn whether they want to further their careers in the Scottish Premiership.
“I went and spoke to a couple of players and it’s just waiting now to see what their decision is,” Neilson told the Evening News. “It’s whether they want to come to Hearts but it was good to speak to them. We’ve put our point across to try and get them so we’ll wait and see. We try to sell the club to them, what we’ll try and do with them and how we’re going to develop them. We think we can improve them and I’ve seen their games. I’ve spoken to them about what I think and what they think and we’ve tried to get them to buy into it a bit.
“It’s trying to get them to build a relationship with you and whether they want to be involved. I’ve tried to convince them this is the best place for them to come.” Hearts are looking for four to five players to supplement their squad ahead of next season.
A striker is a priority regardless of whether their move for Queen of the South forward Gavin Reilly is successful. Also high on the agenda are a left-back and a centre-back.
