Hibs were today handed a tough first-round draw in the Petrofac Training Cup when they were pitted against Rangers at Ibrox.
The draw, which took place at Easter road this afternoon, resulted in Hearts being paired with Annan Athletic. The match will be played at Tynecastle.
Edinburgh Lowland League champions Spartans were drawn away at Morton.
Hibs’ trip to Ibrox, however, is almost certain to be delayed as Rangers’ stadium is in use for the Commonwealth Games. Hearts and Spartans’ ties are due to be played on the weekend of July 26.
The plum draw in the North section was a Fife derby between Dunfermline Athletic and holders Raith Rovers.
