HEARTS midfielder Jason Holt will join Sheffield United on loan until the end of the season, the Evening News can reveal.
Also leaving Tynecastle on loan is striker Dale Carrick, who is joing Raith Rovers in a month-long temporary move. He is available to face Hibs this weekend and could start at Easter Road with Callum Elliot injured.
Sheffield United have negotiated a deal which takes Holt south for the next five months and gives them an option to sign him permanently when his Hearts contract expires this summer.
The 21-year-old was due to finalise his move today which, barring any late hitches, should be confirmed within the next 48 hours.
Sheffield United manager Nigel Clough will add Holt to an already-strong Scottish contingent at Bramall Lane, including Marc McNulty, Jamie Murphy, Stefan Scougall and Jay McEveley.
The midfielder has been keen to start matches regularly but has played a bit-part role for Hearts this season. He will now hope to kick-start his career in England, with the possibility of a permanent contract at United if he impresses.
