ROBBIE NEILSON insists Hearts won’t pay a huge fee to sign Genero Zeefuik permanently from FC Groningen.
The Dutch club want to recoup some of the ¤500,000 they paid for the striker in 2012 and, although Neilson wants to keep him, the decision will be dictated by finance.
“The ball is in Genero’s court and Groningen’s. We have been up front by saying that we are not going to spend a lot of money on players. Genero is a player that we would like to keep but it has to come within our budget and we will not shell out hundreds of thousands on players.
“That’s just being prudent. Genero has had a great season but we need to be realistic and we are only a year on from administration and the doors nearly being shut so we still have to live within our means.”
Zeefuik has scored nine goals in 10 appearances for Hearts.
