A YOUNG Hearts Under-20s side lost 3-2 to their Hamilton counterparts at a wet and windy Riccarton last night.
Only three minutes had passed when their was a moment of controversy. Accies keeper Blair Currie upended Robbie Buchanan outside the box and appeared to deny a goalscoring opportunity, but Currie was only booked.
Hearts opened the scoring on 14 minutes when Angus Beith took a pass from Billy King and fired the ball into the net. However, their lead was cancelled out on 39 minutes when Andrew Ryan squeezed home a shot after a free-kick.
Gary Oliver restored Hearts’ advantage early in the second half after a pass from Beith and, despite pressing for a third goal, Accies won themselves a penalty after Greg Docherty was deemed to have been fouled by Kai Watson. Docherty stepped up to convert the penalty himself. Hamilton’s winning goal came on 83 minutes when Ryan grabbed his second of the match from close range.
