Two former Hearts captains are expected to seal moves to the Old Firm in the coming days.
Defender Marius Zaliukas is on the brink of signing for Rangers after his release from Leeds United, while keeper Craig Gordon is in advanced talks with Celtic.
Gordon, a former Scotland internationalist, and Hearts’ biggest-ever transfer deal when sold to Sunderland for £9 million, had recently been training with the Jambos at Riccarton as he continued his long-term recover from injury.
Celtic manager Ronny Delia is convinced Gordon, 31, can regain the form to be able to provide competition for the keeper’s jersey at Celtic Park, even if current No.1 Fraser Forster stays.
The England internationalist is being courted by clubs including La Liga champions Atletico Madrid.
Delia told the Express newspaper: “Craig needs time. If he can get back to his old levels then he will be a very good international-class goalkeeper.”
Zaliukas, meanwhile, is understood to be on the brink of a move to Ibrox where Rangers boss, Ally McCoist, recently took former Hearts defender Ismael Bouzid on trial.
