Hearts Under-20s played out a goalless draw against Dundee at Newtongrange last night.

Both sides used their full quota of over-age players with Hearts fielding Scott Gallacher, Kevin McHattie, Brad McKay, Scott Robinson and Jason Holt.

The match began with both defences on top, the first goal attempt coming on 23 minutes with visiting goalkeeper Arvid Schenk beating out a strong shot from Nathan Flanagan. Three minutes later, Schenk had to deal with a 25-yard shot from Angus Beith. Alistair Roy also had a shot deflected over the bar in this spell of Hearts pressure, but the visitors finished the half on top, with Gallacher making a brilliant save with his legs, from a close-range shot by early substitute Ryan Lamond.

The second half followed a similar pattern, Dundee again finishing the stronger with Gallacher making fine stops in the final seven minutes from Andy Black, Philip Roberts and Iain Davidson.

Hearts Under-20s: Gallacher, L Smith, Gordon, McKay, McHattie, Flanagan (I Smith 71), Robinson, Holt, Beith (Scott 46), Roy, Buchanan. Subs Unused: Brown G/K, Page, Taylor.
